Mum appreciated the simple pleasures in life and got enormous enjoyment being surrounded by plenty of friends and family. Her door and her heart were always, always open to anyone. You could knock on mum and dads door anytime and you would be welcomed with open arms, followed by a steaming cup of hot tea and fresh baking from her tins.
Mum was my dad’s world, his shining light and lovely lady. On 23rd March this year they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and with the exception of Mum’s recent lengthy hospital stays they have never been apart over those 60 years. They were joined at the hip and truly were an inspirational team.
One of the few lucky couples, to have found their soulmate.
Mum, you were one of the kindest, gentlest and wisest people I know. You were always there for me, teaching me right from wrong, and guiding me along life’s journey. I could ask you anything and you would always have the right answer. I could tell you anything and I knew it would be safe with you. I could share my problems and concerns with you and they would always be halved. I could always count on you to be there for me no matter what time of day or night. I knew that whatever decisions I made in life, you would back me 100%, with perhaps a little added sage advice.
You’ve been my life coach, my confidant, my mentor, my councillor, my supporter, my shoulder to cry on and most importantly my best friend. I thank you with all my heart.
Mum, you know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming?
That’s where I’ll always love you.
That’s where I’ll be waiting.
All My Love, Sharon
