So sad to hear of Bob's death. I spoke with him just after Christmas and we had a good long conversation. Our contact goes back to 1963 and VUW Hockey Club days and we have maintained contact ever since. Both of us became teachers, and my path took me to the UK where I now live, but I managed vista every few years. Condolences to Ian, Hugh and Jon and to their families. Your dad had a good innings and was a true gent, a real friend to so many - he was the father figure in the Hockey Club especially to us first year students in 1963 and I know how much he was respected in hockey circles, in the Tawa College Community and within the under-water sports fraternity be it hockey or spear fishing. You have lost a devoted father and grandfather, and so many of us have lost a loyal and hospitable friend. May you be sustained by the knowledge that he was held in high regard in many activities and that we were proud to call him "our friend".

An inspirational human being who always did the very best for his students and for his colleagues. He is remembered fondly by many as someone who was never too busy to listen, and who went the extra mile to work towards a solution. Farewell Bob.
