"Rob was an inspiration to many.  As a maverick, his display of independant thought and action challenged all of us to live our lives to the full.  When I reconnected with Rob last year after losing touch for a decade or so, I was not surprised to encounter the same guy we all learned to love 30+ years ago.  Rob was a caring, considerate and thoughtful friend who lived every day with faith, optimism and energy.  Kate and kids, Rob's eyes would light up when updating me on your world.  He loved yo"

"As Air Force Business students, Rob entered our lives as we were entering adulthood. We came from a diverse range of places, backgrounds and experiences, but none more so than Rob. This violin-playing, hang-gliding guy from a Niugini missionary family made the rest of us seem pretty mundane.  I recall Rob as an eternally positive, gentle person - a 'free spirit'. He lived the life he loved, and died doing something that he really loved. Would that we are all so lucky."

"My warmest sympathy to Kate and the kids. I'm sure that when the grief fades you will be able to smile as you recall the memories of how Rob touched your lives. While Rob marched to a different drum to me, he marched true to his beliefs and values. Rest in peace Rob."

"No 7 Course mate 1981-1983. Rob, you and I did not make the best study team at Toowoomba. Maybe because you were much smarter than me and actually did some work. I will remember you as starting me on the road to learn patience! I believe that you have left a wonderful family and I wish them strength and courage to move forward without you. My very sincere condolences Kate."

"To Rob's surviving family: He always did it his way, no matter what. A fine quality by anyone's standards. Warmest condolences to you. Regards, Alan Ross."

"Farewell Rob. Your life here on earth ended too soon however the memories you have left behind will help to sustain all those left behind for a long time.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family as they come to terms with their loss.  May God be with them.  Rest at peace with God, Rob. (Co-member of 7 Course BBus, 7 Stores Depot Cadet Flight, Royal Australian Air Force, 1981-1982)"
