"From Dianne (my mum)At the age of 19 with a 9 mth old daughter I travelled with my navy husband to Sydney to begin a new life , without family or friends for support.  We moved into the Coogee Sands motel and my husband left for Melbourne the next day, but not before we knocked on the door of the one person who was my greatest support - his foster mum, Joyce.  When my husband introduced me as his wife - Joyce greeted me as a daughter and then called to her husand "John come meet you new daughter in law and granddaughter.  Never have I met a woman who was more inspirational unselfish and caring than Joyce Beard.  She loved her adopted children, her husband and still had room in her wonderfully big heart for the lost foster children, my daughter and I.  Providing friendship and support without expectation of any reward. Always helping others and caring!  Always remembering those little things, special dates, letters and small gifts for my daughter -Kassy, her husband and in time my  three wonderful grandsons. During the difficult times of my life Joyce was a constant source of support sand advice.  When  Kassy married I surprised her by flying her special nanna Joyce over for the wedding, who despite not being well and having just lost her dearly loved husband John, arrived and brought great joy to all.   When Kassy turned thirty nanna came over again, a little frailer and a little older but  still a bright shinning star, up on the dance floor and bringing happiest to all who met her.  One of my closest friends Rod Sharp commented "What a wonderful inspirational and generous lady".   That is exactly what she was.  She will be greatly missed but we draw comfort from that she will now be with Poppy -John, a kind and loving husband.  God look after our special lady-  Nanna, friend, mothern & mother in-law, but most of all our shinny generous star.   We love you Joyce and will not forget - we can only hope to live up to example      xxxx    Di-- "

"Native American Prayer (take 2)I give you this one thought to keep - I am with you still - I do not sleep.I am a thousand winds that blow,I am the diamond glints on snow,I am the sunlight on ripened grain,I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush,I am the sweet uplifting rush,of quiet birds in circled flight.I am the soft starts that shine at night.Do not think of me as gone - I am with you still in each new dawn. Aho"
