Eulogy

Pasquale and Donata Baldino grew up in the small quite village of Molinara, Benevento, Italy.  They met, fell in love and married and where planning to spend the rest of their lives in Molinara until the war came to Italy in 1940.  Like many young men in the village, Pasquale was called away to fight leaving Donata to raise their two baby daughters Lucia and Cristina.  When the war ended, Pasquale and Donata where determined to build a better life for their daughters.  Donata’s father sponsored Pasquale so he could immigrate to Adelaide and find work.  He sent for Donata and his daughters to join him in 1949.  After a few years in Second Valley and Magill it was in their Paradise home that their son Rocco was born.

Pasquale and Donata worked hard to provide for their young family in their new home.  They loved their children and looked forward to their Sunday picnics and going to the pictures on Thursday and Saturday nights.  It was here in Paradise that they raised their children, grandchildren and even their great-grandchildren.  Through good times and bad they always stuck together.  Both of them would work hard in their market garden with children to look after and animals to tend.  But they did these things side by side, always giving each other a hand no matter what the chore was.

In their later years Pasquale loved to tend to their small veggie patch, plants and flowers and take the dogs for a walk.  Donata didn’t go out much because she was happiest at home in case someone needed her.  She always had food ready in case someone came in and she made you eat even if you weren’t hungry.  They loved the simple things in life, their family, home and friends.  They would enjoy watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing in the backyard and be the most happiest.

Pasquale and Donata will never be forgotten.  They where loved, honoured and respected by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.  They have left us a legacy of being kind to others and doing whatever you can for the ones you love.

Dear mum, dad, nonna and nonno we will miss you very much but are happy that you are together in heaven where you can take care of each other.  We will never forget your kind hearts and happy smiles.

We will love you always.
